Ghana’s media production received a boost when the Class of 2019 graduated from FLASH MEDIA TRAINING SCHOOL last Saturday.
The graduation ceremony held in Sika Hall of Atinka Media Village which was MC Sammy Flex was attended by happy students and their proud families, Royals, and captains in Television, Radio, Film, Folklore & Copyright.
Nana Yaw Akuoko, Chairman of the school’s Governing Board congratulated Managing Proprietor Mr. Clement Amankwah better known in the film industry as Opam for his vision, and dedication to helping build the capacity of the youth in Media Arts Production.
Chairman Mr. Richard Prempeh, Managing Director of Village Communications Ltd and former Chairman of Audio Visual Rights Society of Ghana (ARSOG) urged the graduates to use their skills to improve media production in Ghana and beyond, learning from the past to guide the present, and to create a better path for the future.
In an inspirational keynote address, multiple award-winning Broadcaster, Culture, and Fashion icon, and Managing Director of The Finest Media, Brands & Culture Ltd stressed the need for the graduates to see every imported film, television show, radio and online content as a direct challenge to them from this day forward. He entreated faculty and students to question, rethink and create relevant competitive content to replace such imported material moving forward for the cultural and employment benefit of Ghana.

The Vice President of the Republic, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has, on behalf of Government, handed over assorted emergency relief items to the victims of flooding in some communities in the Upper East and West regions.
The items include student size mattresses; bundles of clothes; chlorine; bags of maize, sugar and rice; boxes of cooking oil; soap; blankets; plastic buckets, bowls, cups and mats; bags of sachet water, as well as boxes of mosquito coils and treated mosquito nets.
The families of those who passed away as a result of the flood also received cash donations to help lessen the burden such deaths had imposed on them.
Unusually heavy rainfall this year has caused major devastation in parts of the three northern regions. The spillage of the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso has only worsened the situation, leading to the loss of several lives and the destruction of property worth millions of Ghana cedis.
Affected communities include Mangu, Kambali and Kunbiehi in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West region; Walinbalee in the Sissala East District; Siniesi in the Builsa North district; Kologo in the Kassena Nankana East District; and Winkogo in the Talensi district, all in the Upper East Region.
